Activity in the jumper rings picked up speed Friday morning at the Hampton Classic, with qualifying classes taking place for those hoping to move forward to the weekend’s finals, and championships being awarded in divisions having taken place throughout the week.
It was Ladies First in Thursday’s $40,000 SOVARO® FEI Speed Stake presented by Lisa & Mario Deslauriers and Lynn Tarnopol, as two-time US Olympic medalist Leslie Burr-Howard and mare Donna Speciale blazed to the top of the class at the 43rd Hampton Classic.

Georgina Bloomberg had just one goal for Paola 233 at this year’s Hampton Classic - to win the Opening Day grand prix, the $30,000 Boar’s Head Jumper Challenge. They achieved their goal with a flourish, besting a diverse field of 42 starters to take the winner’s purse of $9,000.
Bloomberg, a native of New York, NY, explained that the ‘decisive moment’ in their jump-off round came as Paola landed from fence six and literally pivoted on one foot to the left toward the final combination without having to add any extra steps to complete the turn.
The 43rd Hampton Classic Horse Show opened Sunday morning to a pristine blue sky, welcoming horses and riders from near and far to this spectacular annual equestrian and social event. For the next seven days the Hampton Classic will host the highest levels of competition for hunter-jumper horses and riders of all ages and abilities. From the youngest leadline riders (ages 2+!) all the way to Olympic and World Champions, the prestigious Hampton Classic Horse Show attracts the best of the best.
Sunday's Harmony Home Concierge Opening Day competition began bright and early in the Grand Prix ring with the smallest of the week's competitors, leadline riders ages two to four, followed by the groups for ages five to seven.
