Raised in Barrington, Illinois, Lauren Tisbo began riding as a child, got her first horse at the age of 12, and focused on equestrian sport in her late teens, moving up the ranks and eventually reaching the top level, competing in international Grand Prix all over North America and Europe. She has an impressive list of major accomplishments including riding as a member of the 2013 U.S. Nations Cup Team at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Alberta.
In 2014, Tisbo won the 6-bar CSI classes in Munich and Wiesbaden in Germany. Back on U.S. soil, she won the $25,000 Welcome State at the Tryon International Equestrian Center.
Tisbo started off her 2015 season with a fifth place finish in the $125,000 Ruby Et Violette CSI5* Grand Prix Qualifier at Wellington Equestrian Festival with “Entre Nous.” The duo went on to score second place in the $127,000 Adequan CSI3* Grand Prix and fourth place in the $34,000 Suncoast CSI4* Welcome Class at the Tryon Fall International at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) in North Carolina.
In 2016, Tisbo earned several top placings. She and “Coriandolo Di Ribano” claimed the blue ribbon in the $100,000 Hudson Valley Jumper Classic at HITS Saugerties CSI5* before taking fourth place in the highly competitive Great American $1 Million Grand Prix CSI5* with “Mr. Visto.” Tisbo and “Entre Nous” took eighth place at the Hampton Classic CSI4* before heading to the American Gold Cup CSI4*-W where she and “Coriandolo Di Ribano” took third place in the $216,000 American Gold Cup Grand Prix World Cup qualifier. The pair also finished in third place in the $380,000 Grand Prix CSI5* during Tryon Fall 5.
The 2017 season was a busy one for Tisbo. At the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Show, she and “Brindis Bogibo” scored third place in the $130,000 Empire State Grand Prix CSI3*. At the Hampton Classic, Tisbo and “Brindis Bogibo” finished tenth in the $300,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix against a field of some of the world’s top ranked riders. With “Jeleena De Muze,” Tisbo took seventh in the $10,000 Wolffer Estate Open Jumper as well as fourth place in the $40,000 Sovaro Speed Stake. With the stallion ‘Coriandolo Di Ribano,” Tibso scored 11th place in the $10,000 Shamrock Ventures Open “Jumper and 13th place in the $10,000 Wolffer Estates Open Jumper.
Tisbo earned more top placings at the CP National Horse Show. She had a fantastic performance aboard “Coriandolo Di Ribano” to take second place in the $250,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Qualifier and fifth place with “Mr. Visto” in the $35,000 1.45m Open Jumper Accumulator.
Tisbo made her mark again in Tryon, taking fourth place in the $86,000 Grand Prix CSI2*at Tryon Fall III with “Brindis Bogibo,” concluding the Tryon Fall 4 CSI3* with a victory aboard “Mr. Visto” in the $25,000 1.45m Sunday Classic, and fourth place in the $35,000 1.45m Power & Speed FEI at Tryon Fall 5 CSI5* on “Mr. Visto.”
In 2018, Tisbo topped the field at the Live Oak International, winning the $35,000 CSI3* Longines FEI World Ranking Class aboard “Jeleena de Muze” beating a field of 21 international show jumpers for the blue ribbon. The day before, the pair also took second place in the $10,000 Waldron Private Wealth 1.40m Power and Speed. She also piloted the speedy “Coriandolo di Ribano” to a third place finish in the $35,000 Longines World Ranking Class, the qualifier for the FEI World Cup™ class.
Tisbo graduated from Lake Forest College in Illinois in 2006, having majored in communications and double-minored in business and sociology/anthropology. She resides in Wellington, Florida at her family’s Tequestrian Farm where she maintains her string of upper-level competition mounts, and is developing several young horses, some of which are the product of Tequestrian Farms’ breeding program.
Tisbo has a reputation for thinking ‘outside the box’ and using whatever tack works to make her horses happy. The stallion “Mr. Visto” competes in what’s known as a “war bridle,” a rope loop that goes through the mouth and then connects to a pair of reins without a headstall. She flats her horses at home in a racing exercise saddle, and several of them jump and show in it as well, including “Coriandolo Di Ribano.”
When not riding, Tisbo works on marketing and special events for Suncast© Corporation and Sovaro.
